Cows are very maternal creatures. In Vedic tradition, the title of Māta (Mother) is bestowed  on the ever-giving, undemanding provider and nourisher of life – cows, as stated in the Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 07, Chapter 12, Text 07 reads,

आत्म-माता गुरु: पत्नी, ब्राह्मणि राज-पत्नीका
धेनु: धात्री तथा पृथ्वी, सप्तैता मातर: स्मृत:

ātma-mātā guru: patnī, brāhmaṇi rāja-patnīkā
dhenu: dhātrī tathā pṛthvī, saptaitā mātara: smṛta:

One’s own mother, the wife of the spiritual master (guru – गुरू), the wife of a brahmin (or a saint), the wife of a king, the cow, the nurse (caretaker), and the earth are known as the seven mothers of a man.

Cows are the refuge of all-auspiciousness, strength, an abundance which bestows happiness, nourishment, prosperity, and immaculately sustain every form of life. In the Vedic times, every home and hermitage had the presence of a cow. Further, the veneration of Gau Mata instills in those the virtues of gentleness, care, peace, love, and connectedness with nature  That is why Hinduism places the worship of cows on the highest pedestal.

However, in today’s world, cows raised in the dairy industry are confined and unable to fulfill their basic duties such as nursing their calves. Calves are taken away from the cows at the time of birth The milk she produces for her calves are forcibly taken, packaged, and sold to consumers. When her milk production declines, cows in the dairy industry suffer the same fate as their fellow beings in the slaughterhouses. In fact, 20% of cow meat production comes from exploited cows in the dairy industry. Due to the rise in demand for dairy products, artificial hormones, antibiotics, and genetic manipulation are used to increase the yield. Cows are herbivores in nature, yet chicken feathers and seafood are force-fed to provide each cow the required proteins to produce over 10000 liters of milk in a year. Furthermore, cows suffer from sadistic methods such as artificial insemination to force milking until rendered useless, to keep up with the steady influx. Cows are further subjected to cruel methods such as udder burning and machine milking, putting them through a series of torture since the time of birth, till they depart from the world.

KDEA condemns the cruel practices of the dairy industry and revives the ancient ritual of Gaupuja, offering worship to the sacred cows through its establishments of Gaushala. To further our commitments, KDEA has inaugurated Goshalas (cow shelters), raised its status of Mandir (temple), and established KAILASA’s Nithyananda Gaumandir around the world. It is the policy of KDEA to introduce, establish, and spread KAILASA’s Nithyananda Gaumandir to enforce the ethical treatment of cows and bulls across the globe.  KDEA ensures that every cow is fed organically grown grass and chemical-free cattle feed. The calves remain with their mothers throughout the entire span of their lifetime and surplus milk is hand milked after the calves have drunk to its heart’s content.

Cows live productive lives, grazing freely and living a life of fulfillment in KAILASA’s Nithyananda Gaumandir. KAILASA’s Nithyananda Gaumandir houses indigenous Desi Cows, providing nutritious milk for all the Vedic rituals and the citizens of KAILASA. KDEA is further committed to protect the cows and restore the germplasm of indigenous cows, restoring the glory and importance of the indigenous breeds as. KDEA envisions establishing the Ahimsa method of providing care for all animals in all the de facto embassies through the revival of the  Nandi Sarvajnapeetam, which houses, facilitates, protects, and provides shelter to all animals in need including cows and bulls. KDEA has taken the responsibility to exemplify that blissful coexistence and impeccable harmony between animals and humans to establish a sustainable ecosystem.  Through the Nandi, Sarvajnapeetam KDEA shall ensure every being is healthy, comfortable, well-nourished, safe, and they are not suffering from unpleasant states such as abuse,  pain, fear, and distress, and can express behaviors that are important for its physical and mental state.
